Woodcock Club dinner to be held at the Old Palace

The Old Palace at Hatfield House is the venue for the 34th annual Woodcock Club dinner

We are delighted to announce the location and date of the 34th annual Shooting Times Woodcock Club dinner. The hotly anticipated event will be held at the Old Palace at Hatfield House in Hertfordshire on the 24th March 2018.

The Old Palace at Hatfield House is charged with a unique and colourful history dating from 1485 when the Bishop of Ely began building the original Palace of Hatfield of which the Old Palace is all that remains. This Grade 1 listed building has witnessed the grandest of functions from magnificent medieval balls to events of great historical importance such as Queen Elizabeth I’s inaugural Council of State in 1558.

Royalty, lords and ladies, politicians and dignitaries have all been entertained at Hatfield House and now members of the exclusive Shooting Times Woodcock Club members will be added to this illustrious list.

Woodcock Club dinner details

In 2018, after consultation with the Woodcock Club committee, we are introducing a special rate for the younger members of the club. Under 35’s who have shot a right and left at woodcock can take advantage of a reduced ticket price of £70. The over 35’s ticket price is £75.

Dinner guests will be treated to a drinks reception, followed by a 3 course dinner with wine, a charity auction and raffle and an after-dinner speaker.

The 2017 dinner, held at Crowcombe Court in Somerset, was a grand affair and raised a huge £5,000 for the GWCT’s research into woodcock. You can read all about the splendid evening we had in the Quantock Hills here.
